What should I bring with me?
For a full list refer to our parents guide prior to living with us.
What is a parent assessment?
A parenting assessment means you will live with us for up to 12 weeks where we, alongside you explore and learn about your parenting skills and knowledge. Our approach to a parenting assessment is exploring with you what strengths and skills you already have and what areas you need to develop with support to enable you to safely parent your child.
To do this we consider the areas laid out in the ‘Framework for Assessment of Children In Need’.

Where will I be living?
Tyre Hill House is a large rural property divided into eight apartments with a range of communal facilities including a large kitchen, three lounges, laundry room, playroom, and sensory room with access to a large garden.
You will have your own self-contained fully furnished ensuite apartment which contains a small kitchenette, microwave, sink, kettle, like studio accommodation.
We recognise that being assessed is never going to be comfortable for a parent and on that basis, we try to offer parents as much privacy as possible and this will be discussed in the planning stages with you and once agreed, recorded in the Family Placement Plan.
What help and support can I expect?
The support offered will vary depending on what you need, but will vary and range from direct work with your allocated social worker, accessing community groups or learning more about child development, how to cook affordable recipes or how to hold a new born baby/change nappies etc.
All families will have their own allocated social worker and key worker to ensure your needs are being met whilst living in Tyre Hill House. Regardless of the parenting assessment outcome you will be able to access on-going support when you return home.
